"The Gay Divorcee" Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers |
Cole Porter's score include the haunting "Night And Day", and the breezy tune "The Continental" in this 1934 musical. "If Astaire and Rogers had never danced a lick after "Night And Day", they still would have been screen immortals." (The Movie Guide) Time: 09:52 Author: ABQShutterSpeed1 |

Private Pike 'mit de Ginger Beer' - Dad's Army |
By the time of the last two series of Dads Army, with the elderly cast members more than ever feeling their ages, Ian Lavender as the youngest of the cast and his role as Private Pike was being relied on much more than in previous episodes though this had been growing since series 6 after the death of James Beck. The increased emphasis on Pike is especially evident in series 9; episode 2; 'The Making of Private Pike' with the man to man chat in the car with uncle Arthur being a gem. However, this YouTube offering is from Ring Dem Bells (Season 8, Episode 1) which again is dominated by Ian Lavenders portrayal of Pike. The extract itself is somewhat edited in order to fit the ten minute YouTube limit but the essence of the scene is still intact. The prelude to the clip centres on the Walmington on Sea Home Guard being chosen to take part in a Ministry of Information Film in which they are to play the parts of invading Germans - with Private Pike and Sergeant Wilson portraying German officers. Travelling on an extremely hot day for location shooting in Jones's butchers van, they arrive only to be told that filming had been postponed Time: 10:29 Author: CraigRoyston |
