Ship wrecked off Europa Point, Gibraltar |
The Fedra engines failed to start, efforts to secure new lines from 3 large tugs failed. It dragged it's anchors until there was no where to go. It was pinned up against the cliffs below the Europa Point light house. Four of the ships crew were air lifted to safety by the galant efforts of the Spanish Coast Guard but high winds, pilot fatigue, fuel shortage thwarted further attempts, as the helicopter had already been hovering for 2 hours. A land base construction crane with cage lifted the remaining 27 fillopino crew to safety. The video shows the result of one night's battering against the limestone cliffs of Gibraltar.
